As the population has grown, so has the demand for ENT and audiology services with approximately 8,000 appointments attended per year. But the ratio of consultants to patients is one of the lowest in the western world and not likely to improve any time soon.
We offer ENT and audiology insourcing that includes a full pathway service from first attendance in clinic (supported by audiology), pre-assessment, surgery and post procedure follow up. Our audiology services can be offered as a standalone service as well as a support service to our ENT clinics. The service is led by Professor Francis Vaz who will work with the local clinicians to agree the clinical aspects of the service specifications such as exclusion criteria, referral pathways and local management plans.

As such, we have a broad inclusion criterion for ENT surgeries. Most of the ENT surgical procedures we perform as day cases where the patient is discharged on the same day. However, we work collaboratively with the local clinicians to provide support for a carefully defined list of inpatient procedures.
Our pre-assessment clinics are run concurrently with our outpatient clinics to provide a one-stop service to patients. This means that the consultant consents the patient for the intended surgery, completes the relevant outcome or listing documentation on the day. The patient is then seen by an 18 Week Support specialist nurse who completes the pre-op assessment, performs ECG, blood tests, MRSA screening as required and provides the patient with all pre-procedure information. Patients are tentatively booked into a TCI list pending results of investigations.
Our specialist audiology insourcing service is led by our Lead Audiologist Mr Satheesh Sriskandarajah. Typically, our team carries out hearing and balance assessments but are also able to support hearing aid clinics by prior agreement.
