Dr Imran Ahmad

Clinical Lead for Anaesthesia

Dr Imran Ahmad is the Deputy Clinical Director for Theatres, Anaesthesia and Pre-operative medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Trust, London.

Imran did all of his anaesthesia training in the Oxford Deanery with advanced training in difficult airway management. He then moved to London in 2008 when he started his consultant post at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Hospital (GSTT).

During his time at GSTT, Imran has been education and department lead for advanced airway, lead college tutor, training programme director for SE London, clinical lead for Guy’s site and is now the deputy clinical director for Theatres, Anaesthesia and Peri-operative medicine. He is also the current Honorary Secretary for the Difficult Airway Society UK and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at King’s College, London.

He has also been involved in research and education with over 100 peer reviewed publications, almost 2,000 citations and an H-index of 16. He has been an author in award winning and highly cited publications such as the 2015 Difficult Airway Society Intubation Guidelines, the Awake Tracheal Intubation Guidelines and the Intubate COVID project. He is also the course director for the Guy’s airway management course and is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences.
