Michael is also a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Wellcome Trust where he is studying the impact of Parkinson's disease-related mutations. He is heavily involved in academia and is currently responsible for the Critchley Round at Queen Square which is a weekly teaching round for undergraduates, elective and postgraduate students at the hospital, involving patients from the wards.
Michael has held several teaching positions at a number of UK medical schools and is currently an honorary lecturer at the MRC laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology.
